Say Goodbye To Your Musty Crawl Space

Before encapsulating, many crawl spaces have damp stone or concrete walls. The ground may or may not have a plastic sheet. 

Many crawl spaces have fiberglass batt insulation stuffed in the ceiling cavities. Unable to handle the moisture, the batt insulation begins to drip from the ceiling. 

When we encapsulate, we remove any existing insulation. Then, we install a vapor barrier on the ground. The vapor barrier is sealed at the edges to prevent any moisture transfer. 

We also wrap any crawl space pillars with this vapor barrier, sealing the seams with tape. 

Once the drainage and vapor transfer of the floor is addressed, we insulate the crawl space walls with closed cell spray foam insulation. 

Closed cell spray foam has a vapor barrier at approximately 2 inches. As a spray-applied product, it can conform to any inconsistencies in the walls. 

Closed cell spray foam is also installed in the rim joists of the crawl space, blocking off a path for pests and air infiltration. 

If the crawl space has HVAC vents running through already, it can be conditioned using the existing HVAC. Otherwise, a crawl space dehumidifier will manage the crawl space environment. 

To make sure that your crawl space is completely sealed off from outside air and moisture infiltration, the crawl space door must be updated, as well. 

Our insulated crawl space door panels allow easy access into the crawl space without inviting air, vapor, or pests. 

Encapsulation cannot change the height of your crawl space walls, but it can make accessing this space for plumbing and HVAC maintenance much more pleasant. 

After encapsulation, the crawl space is clean, dry, and accessible. Any air exchanging between your living space and crawl space is also clean.
