Cost & Calculator FAQs
How much does spray foam insulation cost, anyway? And are batt and blown-in more budget-friendly than spray foam? Learn more about the prices of each insulation below.
How Much Does Spray Foam Insulation Cost?
The cost of spray foam varies based on several factors, including:
- Climate zone
- Type of foam
- Application area
- Type of substrate
In our climate zone, we charge the following rates for spray foam insulation.
- Closed cell: $1.15 - $1.75 per board foot
- Open cell: $0.25 - $0.75 per board foot
A board foot is a measurement related to square feet. Check out our informational article to learn more about calculating board feet.
Or, use our pricing calculators. The only input you need is your square footage!
How Much Does Blown-In Insulation Cost?
There are two main types of blown-in insulation:
- Blown-in fiberglass
- Blown-in cellulose
The prices of these insulations fluctuate often. Generally, the cost will range between $1.50 and $4 per square foot.
The price of blown-in does not account for the cost of a separate air-seal. Our recommendation is to air-seal your attic floor before installing blown-in, to maximize the performance of your insulation.
How Much Does Fiberglass Batt Cost?
Fiberglass batt is one of the most affordable insulation options. We charge between $0.75 and $3.00 per square foot for fiberglass batt.
While fiberglass is more cost-effective initially, it doesn't offer enough performance alone for the thermal envelope of your home. We recommend a hybrid system for fiberglass in these situations, to support the batts with an airtight seal.
