Blown-In Attic Insulation
Is your attic way too hot in the summer and downright frigid in the winter? You need more insulation. If you are on a budget, blown-in insulation from South Central Services may be your solution!
Is Blown-In Insulation Right For You?
There are lots of different options for attic insulation. Is blown-in the best choice for your home? You may want to choose blown-in insulation for your attic if...
...You're On A Stricter Budget.
Blown-in insulation is more affordable than spray foam. Blown-in cellulose costs between $1.25 to $4.00 per square foot.
...You're Environmentally Conscious.
Blown-in cellulose insulation is generally made up of between 50% and 85% recycled material.
...You Want Decent Performance.
Blown-in insulation cannot match spray foam. However, when paired with an airtight seal, cellulose still lowers energy bills.
...You Want Your Home To Be Comfortable.
Insufficient attic insulation leads to a very hot house in the summer. Blown-in insulation with an airtight seal slows down that heat.
...You Don't Plan To Use Your Attic.
Blown-in insulations are installed on the floor, which means the attic can't be used for living space or storage.
...You Don't Have Ductwork In Your Attic.
Ductwork absorbs excess heat load when only the floor is insulated. If your attic has ductwork running through, you need an unvented attic.
Start Saving On Heating & Cooling Costs
The Environmental Protect Agency estimates that homeowners can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs by insulating their attics and other critical areas of the home.
The Blown-In Process
Blown-in cellulose can't rival the performance of spray foam. However, it is the next best alternative. When we install blown-in insulation in an attic, we follow these steps to maximize its performance.
Step 1: Remove Existing Insulation
Before any new insulation can be installed, old insulation must be removed. In many attics in Greencastle, this means taking out old batt or blown-in insulation.
Step 2: Perform Air-Seal
The inability to create an airtight seal is one of the reasons blown-in isn't as effective as spray foam. Once any existing insulation has been removed, we install an air-seal separately, helping the blown-in product to stop convective and radiant heat transfer.
Step 3: Prep New Insulation
When we arrive to install your blown-in insulation, the cellulose is still in bale form. We use our blown-in insulation rig to transform the insulation into loose-fill.
Step 4: Install Even Layer
Once the cellulose has been broken down into a loose-fill product, we install an even layer of cellulose on the attic floor. The insulation is deep enough to meet necessary R-values for attics in Franklin County.
What Our Customers Are Saying
"What a great experience dealing with this team. From the office, to the owner, then the install team, what a seamless experience this was. I've held off on this project for years as I was never sure what to expect. When Killian laid out the plan there was no doubt in my mind these guys would deliver and they did."
Paul Mayes from Chambersburg, PA
"South Central installed insulation in our attic and crawlspace. They did an excellent job and even resolved an issue one of our ceiling fans had due to the attic insulation. Excellent company!"
Jeremi Dilworth from Gettysburg, PA
"Fast, effective and friendly. Did good work. Sales pitch was not pushy. Great experience."
John Gipe from Chambersburg, PA
"Noah, Franklin, Travis, Kilian, Zeshan, and Paige were a great team in bidding and finalizing our blow-in project. Our job was not easy for the installers as we have a long house with low ceilings in the attic so it was 2 hot/long days for them. Since we have had the insulation put in, our AC has worked much more efficiently and has not had trouble keeping up with the heat like it did prior to the insulation. It was great to work with a local, family-owned company that was there for personalized service through the whole project. There we also a few hiccups related to the build of the house and the install that the guys took time out of their day to help us fix...which was greatly appreciated."
