Insulating with spray foam is more involved process than traditional insulation. However, homeowners net significantly better results in energy usage, comfort, and air quality. Here are the steps our crew takes to insulate a new construction home.

Prep

Before insulating anything, the home needs to be prepped. Our team covers any finished assets like windows, doors, or floors. We also air-seal small gaps and cracks with can foam and caulking.

Insulate

We spray every area of the thermal envelope with spray foam insulation. This generally includes walls and ceilings, but the design of every home is different. We also install batt insulation in interior walls for sound attenuation.

Clean

After installing the insulation, our crew cleans. We remove prep work covers and dispose of any trash. We leave our jobsites in better condition than when we arrived, and hand back control of the project to the general contractor.

Why Choose Spray Foam Over Fiberglass

Fiberglass batt insulation is one of the most popular insulation options. Compared to spray foam, fiberglass is also an affordable insulation option. If fiberglass has a comparable R-value to spray foam, why should you splurge on a more expensive insulation product?

R-value is only one metric to gauge insulation performance. An insulation with a high R-value can prevent conductive heat transfer. However, heat also travels through convection and radiation: through the air.

Unlike fiberglass insulation, spray foam offers an airtight seal. Air-sealing your home will prevent heat from exchanging uncontrollably. While spray foam has a higher price tag, it also has higher performance.
