Update Your Attic Insulation To Cut Your Energy Costs
Most attics in our service area have little to no insulation. Reinsulating your attic can lower your energy costs, improve your air quality, and make your home more comfortable.
Attic Insulation Options
There are several insulation options for attics. Our team installs closed cell spray foam, open cell spray foam, and blown-in cellulose. Compare your insulation options below.
Fiberglass Performs Poorly In Attics
South Central Services does not install blown-in fiberglass or fiberglass batts in attics. Fiberglass insulation may be inexpensive, but it does not offer comparable performance to spray foam or cellulose. Fiberglass batts often have insulation gaps which allow air and heat to pass through freely. Over time, batt insulation also sags.
Our team is concerned with the longevity and performance of your attic insulation. Fiberglass will not deliver reliable results for your home.
Choosing Between Floor & Ceiling Insulation
Your attic only needs insulation in one area: your roof and gables, or your attic floor.
Insulating your attic ceiling creates a conditioned space.
Insulating the attic ceiling, or "encapsulating" the attic, prevents heat and air from leaking into the attic. We recommend encapsulation for attics with HVAC ductwork.
Insulating your attic floor protects your living space.
Insulating the attic floor doesn't stop heat and air from leaking into the attic. However, that layer of insulation on the floor prevents the heat from pressing into your living space.

What Our Customers Are Saying
"South Central installed insulation in our attic and crawlspace. They did an excellent job and even resolved an issue one of our ceiling fans had due to the attic insulation. Excellent company!"
Jeremi Dilworth from Gettysburg, PA
"If you are debating if it's worth spray foaming your house let me say that it is totally worth it!!! Our house used to be so drafty. But now when it was 5° outside our house stayed nice & toasty! They are very good at what they do! They cleaned everything up & left it how they found it! Very easy to communicate with & arrived when they said they would! Get the spray insulation & have these guys do it! You'll be glad you did!!"
Geneva Miller from Chambersburg, PA
"We contracted with South Central Services (SCS) to have our roof insulated with closed cell foam insulation. Killian was very knowledgable and explained the entire process to us in person. The employees were very considerate of our home and made every effort not to leave behind a mess. The entire installation process took approximately one week. When we discovered an area that hadn’t been sprayed due to the fiberglass insulation not being removed SCS came back and promptly sprayed that area once the previous insulation was removed. Their ability to access all areas of the roof was impressive. The spray application was thorough and uniform. The spray foam also makes for a much cleaner attic. We chose to delay our review until we had several months to compare our electric bills with past electric bills. Our savings with the new insulation has been quite substantial. We have not been disappointed in any way and would recommend SCS to anyone considering closed cell insulation."

Attic Insulation FAQs
Do You Have To Remove Existing Attic Insulation?
Our team does not install new insulation on top of old insulation. To maximize the performance of your insulation, your attic needs an airtight seal. If we didn't remove existing insulation, the air-seal could not adhere to your attic floor or ceiling.
The cost of removing your attic insulation is built into your quote.
Are Spray Foam And Blown-In Insulation The Same Thing?
Spray foam insulation and blown-in cellulose are two very different insulation products. Spray foam is a plastic foam that we manufacture on-site through a chemical reaction. Cellulose is a loose-fill insulation product made of recycled paper materials.
Spray foam is installed through a spray gun, while blown-in is installed through a hose.
Which Insulation Is Better: Spray Foam Or Blown-In?
Spray foam insulation has a higher R-value and is more versatile. Spray foam can create an encapsulated attic and delivers an airtight seal on its own.
Blown-in cellulose insulation has a high R-value but can only be used on the attic floor. Blown-in insulation only blocks one type of heat transfer without a separate air-seal.
Blown-in is more affordable than spray foam, but spray foam does deliver the best performance for attics.
